A Mother's Nurture
"Can a mother forget the infant at her breast, walk away from the baby she bore? But even if mothers forget, I'd never forget you - never. Look, I've written your names on the backs of my hands. The walls you're rebuidling are never out of my sight." Isaiah 49: 15 & 16 (MSG)
You saw me fall when just as an infant; I struggled in my first steps.
Placing Your hand out, You beckon me on, smiling and calling out, “Come on precious one.”
A world filled with wonder I rose up again, determined to follow that ‘voice’ and find You.
Lead me I said, little knowing the way, I again placed my hand in Yours to obey.
Where are we going?
Will nurture be there?
Enough to sustain me and meet every care?
You sing in the morning, new dawning will break. To fill every empty, longing and ache.
Bring closer dear Mother; do You see who I am?
You whisper,” I see you dear child and have joy.
I’ll keep you from falling, stay close, do not fear.
The journey’s adventure will bring forth what’s clear.
My love will not waiver, but steer you right on.
The warmth of My sunlight will nurture you close,
To sense open heavens, sweet kisses and treasures of kin.
So in this place of foreign exchange, rest softly your head child and lean in to gain,
An ear to My heartbeat, soft rhythms of grace.
I’ll walk with you here now, all the day long
Revealing love’s pleasure and singing your song”
