Driftwood

Introduction by Molly McNamara

We have been sharing with you over the past month about the importance of community and learning to lean into the Father's embrace to be 'one body'.  The beautiful bride, the Body of Christ.  Jesus prayed for all believers in John 17:20-21  "I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe Me through their word; that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me." (NKJV) Tracie Morelli of W. Virginia received an inspiring word recently that we pray will bring you a taste of this priceless gift of love called unity.

A Driftwood was going out to an island and the waves blew it onto the island.   It just lays on the edge and whenever waves come it's moved a little but then it also moves back into the water. This island has kept many isolated by themselves. Some have other Driftwood's that have made its way to the land, but because of the journey (and nothing on the island could sustain the wood), the wood stayed there and began to rot and then asked, ‘why can’t I get off this island?’. God said you've drifted and drifted for long periods of time and believe this island was where I wanted you... To be by yourself and isolated. And in your woundedness, you isolated and stayed alone.  You couldn't  be built up, you couldn't be encouraged, because you kept drifting. It was much easier, so you thought, to keep everything, every past hurt, every offense which in turn kept you on the island in an isolated place.

God wants to bring you onto the mainland. You need each other to be on solid ground with one another. God wants a relationship/community, bearing one another's burdens. You were never designed to be alone. You were created for relationship, to be in community which is healthy, accountable relationships. Allow yourself to quit being tossed to and fro and then being alone. The wounds were made in relationships and the healing will take place in relationship. Don't be on an island that keeps you separated from others. You can never begin to trust.  You can never begin to love without trustworthy, caring, nurturing relationships to love you back to life.

Trust Me when you don't trust others. I will heal your wounds, I will soften your heart and care for you through others. You will no longer be an island by yourself but be on solid ground with your brothers and sisters in Christ. Amen
